World Red Cross Day Observed with Great Enthusiasm Across District Doda

 

World Red Cross Day was observed with great enthusiasm across District Doda under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Om Kumar. The day was marked by a series of awareness activities and health initiatives aimed at promoting the values and humanitarian services of the Red Cross Society.

 

The main programme in this regard was held at Government ANMT School Doda, where Deputy CMO Doda, Dr. Sat Lal Manhas, graced the occasion, alongside Principal ANMT Doda, Smt. Vidya Kotwal. An awareness programme highlighting the history and significance of the Red Cross was conducted, followed by a rally organized with active participation from students and staff of the institution.

 

At the block level, various awareness programmes and health screening camps were organized to commemorate the day, ensuring community engagement and outreach across different areas of the district.

 

In addition, a First Aid Training-cum-CPR session was held at PHC Bhella, organized by Dr. Sadeeq Wani, Medical Officer PHC Bhella. The session included practical demonstrations for the healthcare staff and ASHA workers, equipping them with life-saving skills and emergency response techniques.

 

Speaking on the occasion, CMO Doda, Dr. Om Kumar, elaborated on the significance of World Red Cross Day. He emphasized the vital role of the Red Cross in providing humanitarian aid, emergency assistance, and health services to vulnerable populations across the world. He urged everyone to embody the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality, the core values upheld by the Red Cross Movement.

 

The day concluded with a renewed pledge by all participants to continue supporting humanitarian efforts and to work towards building a healthier, safer community.
